I've been really diggin' this series, and that in itself is saying something because YA is way down at the bottom of my paranormal genre addictions. Emma Galvin continues to do a brilliant job of narrating THE ARCANA CHRONICLES, but after listening to two back-to-back 5-star audiobooks, this one poured on the love triangle and angst, and not in a good way (if such a thing even exists). It's just plain silly that the world has gone to hell, and instead of worrying about what card is going to try to kill her next, or where her next meal is coming from; Evie's torn as to which boy she loves the most. I thought we'd get answers in this installment, yet instead readers get a big slap in the face with a choice that turns out to be not really a choice at all.
